Bringing Creativity to Melbourne’s International Student Community
In March 2026, The Messy Good Lab partnered with I.S. Education to host a creative pompom workshop for international students in Melbourne.
Designed as a relaxed and beginner-friendly experience, the workshop invited students to slow down, connect with others, and explore their creativity through hands-on making.
For many participants, it was their first time creating something with yarn. From choosing colour combinations to experimenting with patterns and decorations, each pompom quickly became a reflection of its maker’s personality.
More Than Just Crafting
Moving to a new country can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming at times.
Workshops like this create opportunities for students to step away from study and work, meet new people, and enjoy a creative moment together.
Throughout the session, participants shared stories, exchanged ideas, and encouraged each other while making their creations.
By the end of the workshop, the room was filled with colourful pompom flowers, unique colour combinations, and plenty of smiles.
