Creative Resident Engagement at The Switch Melbourne

In May 2026, The Messy Good Lab partnered with The Switch Melbourne to deliver a creative pompom workshop for student residents.

The session brought together residents from different backgrounds for an afternoon of making, conversation, and creativity.

Participants were invited to create their own pompom monsters, choosing colours, decorations, and charms to build a tiny character with its own unique personality.

Building Community Through Creativity

One of the things we love most about workshops is seeing strangers become friends around a shared table.

Throughout the session, residents exchanged ideas, shared materials, and celebrated each other’s creations. What started as yarn and decorations quickly turned into a collection of colourful characters, each completely different from the next.

The workshop created a relaxed environment where participants could take a break from study, meet new people, and enjoy a creative moment together.
